The Direct Mentor Model

Ensuring the future of “neighbor helping neighbor.”

Each Bridge Communities family is helped by a dedicated team of volunteer mentors who are critical to building their family’s capabilities for independent living.

Historically, mentor teams have come from Program Partner organizations – mostly area faith communities – that furnish volunteers and program funds for their selected family. But faith communities are growing smaller and older, making Program Partners increasingly difficult to recruit.

The solution is our new Direct Mentor Model, which decouples funding and volunteer mentors so they no longer have to come from the same source. This frees Bridge to recruit mentors who give their time while other donors make their vital work possible.

The Opening New Doors Campaign will provide crucial funding for the Direct Mentor model, increasing the number of client families we can serve.
