Impact

Because of generous donors and Program Partners, Bridge Communities families make a lasting transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

In 2018, Bridge embarked on a project to study the long-term effects of our program’s efforts on our clientele. As part of this project, we surveyed 158 past Bridge families on their experiences while in Bridge, and how they’re doing today.

Of the alumni surveyed, they reported:
• 75% have never fallen behind on their rent or mortgage, or caught up before action was taken post Bridge
• 91% developed their financial skills while in Bridge
• 82% increased their problem-solving ability
• 84% report being in steady and advancing careers today
• 77% say Bridge helped them develop their parenting skills
• 83% report their children are in meaningful relationships with their peers
• 75% say their children are keeping up in challenging education programs
• 81% say they developed self-care skills while in Bridge
• 70% say that Bridge taught them how to have healthy relationships

“This program helped me change and shape my life as a young, single mother, and I’ll be forever grateful for the ability to participate, the help I received and the life skills I learned during my time [in Bridge.]”
—Bridge Graduate, 16 years post-program
