Welcome to Sleep Out Saturday
2008 On November 1st

We are thrilled with the response to Sleep Out Saturday 2007 which was held on November 3rd, 2007. 50 groups and 1,200 individuals braved the cold November night to help raise awareness and create empathy for homeless families in DuPage County. SOS raised nearly $110,000 in 2007, a jump of more than $30,000 from 2006.

A special thank you to our group leaders who worked very hard to organize their sleepers and create a night where all participants learned just how difficult it would be to be homeless. Lisle Teens with Character and St. Margaret Mary Parish in Naperville each raised approximately $5,400 to win a fabulous bowling party at Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes.

We also want to thank our corporate sponsors. In particular, our platinum sponsors Harris Bank and ICON Digital Design, provided valued contributions that helped us keep more than 80% of our funds raised directed at client services. All of our sponsors, listed in the left column of this page, helped us have the resources needed to ensure a very successful event. Thank you all!

A preview of Sleep Out Saturday 2008:

WHO: Over 1,200 sleepers will participate all around DuPage County.
WHAT: Sleep Out Saturday is sponsored by Bridge Communities, Inc. We invite everyone to attend the SOS Rally at Bridge Communities at 505 Crescent Blvd in Glen Ellyn. After the Rally, sleepers will disperse throughout DuPage County to spend the night outside in tents, cars or boxes. Pledges are collected by sleepers prior to the event to sponsor the sleepers on November 1st.
WHEN: The Rally is Saturday, November 1st at 6:30 pm. Sleep out at your selected location continues until Sunday, November 2nd.
WHERE: The Rally location is at Bridge Communities at 505 Crescent Blvd in Glen Ellyn. You can sleep anywhere! There are designated sites throughout DuPage County, but you can sleep in your own backyard.
WHY: To raise awareness about homelessness in DuPage County and to raise money to support homeless families enrolled in the Bridge Communities transitional housing program.

What's new in 2008?

Details on new group activities and Rally guests will be posted in April 2008. We do plan to add activities for families who want to participate in SOS and new youth group activities.
